My name is Vanessa Andrew and I studied Fine Art at degree level, followed by an MA in the Conservation of Fine Art (Easel Paintings) at Newcastle University.
I have been running my own business since 1998 as a self-employed paintings conservator. My studio is based at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum in Birkenhead on the Wirral.
I have carried out a wide variety of treatments and projects both in the studio and on site, ranging from cleaning and restoring conventional easel paintings on canvas and panel to church furnishings and other site projects, including murals. My clients are both private individuals and institutions, the latter including the Liverpool University Art Collections, Tate Liverpool, Manchester University, Manchester City Art Galleries, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, Glyndwr University and the Williamson Art Gallery.
I offer a wide variety of services for owners and institutions including - painting condition surveys; a full range of conservation treatment options including - consolidation of loose and flaking paint; all aspects of cleaning and removal of dirt and discoloured varnishes; structural work including strip-lining and full linings as required; tear repairs; inpainting, restoration and re-varnishing of the paint surface.
